January 30

January 30, 1911 The Taal Volcano in Taal, Batangas erupted.
- The Manila Observatory recorded 26 earthquakes that day, at the peak of the eruption.
-  Around 1,335 people died and 199 casualties were reported after the total wipe-out of 7 barangays at the foot of Taal Volcano.

January 29, 1991 The Philippine National Police or PNP was created by virtue of Republic Act 6975, known as the “Department of the Interior and Local Government Act of 1990".
-The PNP came into Camp Crame, Quezon City, when the Philippine Constabulary and the Integrated National Police were merged and retired as mandated by law.
-The PNP’s motto is “To Serve and To Protect”. Its daily tasks are anchored on the values of Maka-Diyos (God-fearing), Makabayan (nationalistic), Makatao (humane), and Makakalikasan (environment-friendly).

January 28, 1959 President Carlos P. Garcia approved the National Plumbing Code of the Philippines prepared by "master plumbers" of the National Master Plumbers Association of the Philippines.
- The Plumbing Code of the Philippines states the guidelines of building a system of pipe and other installations in a building; for the proper distribution of clean and potable water.

January 27, 2013 One of the world's biggest fire in the history broke out.
- Around 2:30 in the morning, fire broke out at the Kiss Nightclub in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, causing the death of 242 victims and 168 casualties.
- According to the investigation, the firs started from a small pyrotechnics show after a band perfomance. The sound insulating material in the ceiling burned, thus, covering the nightclub with lots of people, with smoke and fire.

January 26, 1954 President Ramon Magsaysay issued Executive Order No. 8, prohibiting the slaughter of carabaos for 1 year, starting January 31, 1954.

- The decision came after President Magsaysay was informed by the Director of Animal Industry, Manuel G. Sumulong, that a total of 156,216 carabaos were slaughtered from 1947-1953 in Manila and suburbs; and that the indiscriminate slaughtering had resulted in the scarcity and rise in the price of carabaos to the extent that poor barrio farmers could not afford to buy animals for their farm work.
- He reiterated the Republic Act No. 11 which prohibits the slaughtering of male and female carabaos, horses, mares, and cows, unless authorized by the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

January 24 ,1980 Secretary Jorge B. Vargas, the country's first Executive Secretary died.
- He serves under the Commonwealth government of President Manuel Luis Quezon.
- Before serving as an Executive Secretary, Vargas was first appointed as a Manila Mayor in 1941 and became a chairman of the Japanese-sponsored Philippine Executive Commission.

January 23, 1899 The Philippines' first President General Emilio Aguinaldo established the First Republic also known as the Malolos Republic in Barasoain Church, Malolos, Bulacan
- The Malolos Republic became the first independent Republic in Asia.
- But after a few years, the invasion of Americans ended the reign of First Republic.
